Friends of the Branch River would like to invite you to our
next public family event to be held Sunday, April 23rd @ 12:30 pm at
the Manitowoc Public Library! We will be hosting the Fox Valley Herp Club
upstairs in Balkansky Rooms B and C. This neat group will do a short
presentation on reptiles and then the fun starts with lots of hands-on
interaction with many snakes, turtles, and other reptiles big and small!! We
will also have treats from Cravings in Whitelaw afterwards for your enjoyment!
This is a FREE family event but donations are strongly encouraged to help
support our group. We will also have information available for you to learn
more about our group and getting involved and/or becoming a member.
We are offering a summer camp scholarship to 12 – 17 year
olds through Maritime Museum—Watershed Ambassadors Summer Camp! This requires a
membership and some volunteer work with us. The week-long daycamp is highly
recommended for anyone who enjoys the outdoors!
We also are offering scholarships to those who are currently
enrolled in Conservation/Natural Sciences based secondary education majors. We
are looking for like-minded individuals to help continue our grassroots saga in
the years to come. Become a member of our group and then show proof of your
enrollment, etc and you may be a lucky recipient of up to $1,000 scholarship
depending on number of applicants!
We will be ordering trees shortly and members will be
granted first dibs on trees before we have our planting workday (spring date
TBD based on tree shipment). We will offer planting services to members/event
sponsors as well. If you have/know a high schooler in need of some community
service work, please contact us for this planting project in Spring, or during
our bridge crossing garbage pick-up day scheduled for Saturday May 20 (rain
date Sunday May 21 afternoon). Anyone can help us do a part in cleaning up our
earth…. If you are interested in helping out contact either Al or Emily at the
numbers below or send Friends of the Branch River Watershed a message on
Facebook. After the bridge clean-ups we will host a simple lunch to thank our
volunteers.
Brat frys will be Saturday April 29 and Friday June 30 @
Rob’s. Come buy a brat or burger and support a great cause!
Our annual Dodge Preserve Trail Run/Walk will be held rain
or shine Saturday October 7th.
