Outdoor News

FISHING NEWS:   Fishing on the Bay has kept fishing pressure low due to the high winds out of the northeast and many anglers still went out. Anglers that braved the winds found walleyes looking for warmer waters. Anglers reported catching walleye and smallmouth bass out of the Oconto Breakwater Harbor. In the southern Bay, most anglers were catching multiple harvestable walleyes as well as white bass and freshwater drum. Fishermen have been having some success fishing the Flambeau River for walleye and bass. Some northern pike, walleye and smallmouth bass were being caught on the Oconto, Peshtigo and Menominee rivers. Last week the fishing pressure was a little high due to the tournaments in Sturgeon Bay over the weekend. Targets were Smallmouth Bass but a few fishermen were looking also for walleyes.  Rainbows are finishing up spawning but are still holding in some of the Door County streams, likely waiting for warm water to force them back into the lake. In the southern part of the lake near Milwaukee is showing signs of alewives starting to show up along the shorelines and the seagulls are diving in for them.
