WHO SAYS YOU ARE TO YOUNG TO KILL TURKEYS, CONGRATULATIONS YOUNG MAN

Ohio Hunter Takes His First Bird
From the stats we saw in last Friday’s edition of the wire, Ohio turkey hunters are having a very good start to the spring season, harvesting more than 3,300 wild turkeys on opening day. In itself, that’s good news for hunting.
But the better news is that there are young hunters taking to those fields. And we have indisputable proof. Yep, photographic evidence to show that young hunters do exist -and are harvesting animals.
We received these photos last week from our contacts at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. We loved ‘em, but were cautious about sharing them because of the hate messages frequently received by hunters after they post their hunting images on social media.
Having been reassured by our contacts that it’s OK with his proud papa, Nick, we’re more than pleased to share these photos of five-year-old Luke Turner and his first turkey. If you’ll look closely at the second shot, you’ll notice he took his first gobbler (with a 9.75 inch beard and 5/8 inch spurs no less) with a single shot shotgun.
Nice work, Luke.

It’s normal to see a photo of a proud hunter posed with his harvest (top), but it’s not often you see a hunter that’s nearly the same size as his game (below). Five-year-old Luke Turner of Bowerston, Ohio has reason to be proud of his first turkey. Photos with permission.
