The following groups are receiving
this email: Wisconsin Wildlife Federation, Conservation Congress, Wisconsin
Bowhunters Association, Whitetails Unlimited, QDMA and the La Crosse County
Alliance.
Below is an email that I sent out
to all of you in an earlier email giving a brief summary of the status of the
DATCP and DNR rulemaking follow-up on the Governor’s Executive Order on the on
CWD.
The latest is that the DNR Board
did approve their Statement of Scope allowing DNR to develop emergency rules
regarding enhanced fencing for white-tail deer farms (not all cervids) and for
movement of deer carcasses out of CWD counties for sports hunters. The DNR is
now drafting rules, will hold a public hearing on the rules and will be coming
back to the DNR Board for Board approval in August or September.
At the DNR Board meeting Mike
Riggle, Vice-Chair of the Conservation Congress and five individuals for the
Wildlife Federation attended and testified in favor of the DNR staff positions.
The game farm interest had many more attendees….
What this email is about is that
the DATCP Board will be meeting in Sheboygan on July 24th with a 1
pm time slot for public appearances. I have attached the public notice of the
hearing. I met with DATCP staff last week. THEY EMPHASIZED TO ME THAT
SPORTSMEN REALLY NEED TO SHOW UP FOR THIS HEARING AND TESTIFY IN FAVOR OF THE
PROPOSED DATCP SCOPE STATEMENT.
