Get an inside look at how DNR
staff use samples from harvested furbearers
Wisconsin
DNR staff have collected teeth and reproductive samples from harvested
bobcat, fisher and river otter since the late 1970s. Collecting these data
allow furbearer biologists to calculate harvest age structure, sex ratios,
pregnancy rates and litter size, which helps guide management decisions for
these species.
