MORE INFORMATION FOR ALL OF YOU ON HOW THE DNR USES THE SAMPLES YOU GIVE THEM.

Get an inside look at how DNR staff use samples from harvested furbearers

bobcat

Wisconsin DNR staff have collected teeth and reproductive samples from harvested bobcat, fisher and river otter since the late 1970s. Collecting these data allow furbearer biologists to calculate harvest age structure, sex ratios, pregnancy rates and litter size, which helps guide management decisions for these species.

In this video, Wisconsin DNR Furbearer Specialist, Shawn Rossler, and Furbearer Research Scientist, Dr. Nathan Roberts, describe the sampling process and thank hunters and trappers for their continued support in the annual submission of these important furbearers.
