QUARANTINE OF FOREST PRODUCTS IN THE STATE OF WISCONSIN

Wisconsin Statewide EAB Quarantine
Effective March 30, 2018, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection will extend the emerald ash borer quarantine to the remaining counties that had not previously been quarantined. This means the entire state of Wisconsin is now under quarantine for EAB.
For the wood industry, the effect is to allow free movement of regulated items within the state of Wisconsin. If you have a compliance agreement with DATCP for movement within the state, it is no longer in effect. You may now continue to move regulated items within Wisconsin after April 1.
The newly quarantined counties are under a state quarantine, not a federal quarantine. This means that it applies only to movement within Wisconsin – not across state lines.
If you are moving regulated articles:
 Within Wisconsin, they move freely; in effect, they are no longer regulated items.
 To quarantined areas outside of Wisconsin, they move freely.

Regulated articles are:
 Ash trees, limbs, branches and roots
 Ash logs, slabs and untreated lumber with bark attached
 Cut firewood of all non-coniferous species
 Ash chips and ash bark fragments larger than one inch in diameter, whether composted or uncomposted
 Any other items that poses a risk of spreading EAB, as determined by DATCP or USDA-APHIS
Campgrounds in state parks and forests and in Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest will continue to restrict firewood brought into the sites (purchased within 10 miles for state lands and 25 miles for national forests), and will continue to allow DATCP-certified firewood. DATCP will continue to certify firewood dealers.
