Thanks to all of those who attended Aug 10 presentation by Rob Zimmer. Event was well-attended and the speaker was very informative! We also had many delicious sides for the potluck and got a walking tour of Woodland Dunes grounds as Rob pointed out many of the Wild Edible plants he had discussed. West Foundation was the main sponsor for this event. We sent Eliza Suchan to the Trees 4 Tomorrow Camp in Manitowish Waters. She couldn’t go last year and luckily could attend this year. She has been very beneficial with volunteer work and went through all of the steps required for our Youth Program as well as leading the Maritime Museum’s Summer Watershed Ambassadors Camp. We sent two FOBR youth members to the Maritime Museum summer camp (12 and up). We hope they had a very enjoyable time. We briefly talked about camps for our younger members and will be sending children to Woodland Dunes Day camps. I will be staying in touch with them on dates for next year’s camps but if your schedule is flexible, please let me know that you are interested in sending your child(ren) and I will keep you posted on dates and camp descriptions. We sent three children to a “Pond Life” day camp July 14. We held a last-minute invasives removal event on July 13th that was very well attended. Thankfully the river level finally came down and the kids had a blast playing in the river. Thank you to all who helped and to Barb Panosh for processing the crayfish! She pickled them and had some at the Aug 10 event… they were very good! We purchased a metal sign for the Dodge Preserve and presented it to Rollie and Carol during a Valders Journal newspaper meeting on the Preserve. Thanks! Emily Endter, FOBR Secretary (920)323-3486 and Al Klingeisen, President (920)901-5166
