NRA-ILA DAILY ALERT FOR THURSDAY DECEMBER 29TH.

Here are some of the titles for the day. GUN VOTE WINS, The Washington Post reported on the results of a survey of D.C. government relations professionals that ranked NRA as "most effective at affecting public policy."  The public could see that when NRA -endorsed Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton for the Presidency.  GUN CONTROL BILLS FILED IN ADVANCE OF NEW MEXICO LEGISLATURE'S 2017 SESSION. It only figures the Democrats will do everything in their power to disarm the citizens of America so they will be able to force us to do their dirty work and not fight back.  NEVADA'S NEW GUN BACKGROUND CHECK LAW ENDS BEFORE IT BEGINS:  as the FBI deemed the law as "unenforceable" and refused to do background checks on anyone as the state lacks authority to do so. NEW MEXICO: LAWMAKERS VOW TO RESTRICT PRIVATE FIREARM TRANSFERS.  Democrats at work again. The title saids it all.

NRA-ILA GRASSROOTS NEWS:  GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER by OBAMA: SSA Finalizes New Gun Prohibition Rule. On Monday, Barack Obama's Social Security Administration (SSA) issued the final version of a rule that will doom tens of thousands of law-abiding (and vulnerable) disability insurance and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients to  loss of Second Amendment Rights under the guise of re-characterizing them as "mental defectives". The SSA, for the first time in its history, will be coopted into the federal government's gun control apparatus, effectively requiring Social Security applicants to weigh their need for benefits against their fundamental rights when applying for assistance based on mental health problems.

OBAMA RELEASE MORE DANGEROUS CONVICTS: On Monday Dec 19th, 2016 Barack Obama set a new record for the number of pardons and commutations granted in a single day by bestowing pardons on 78 federal prisoners and reducing the sentences of 153 others. Among the prisoners granted clemency were 54 serving life terms.

ANTI-GUN GRINCHES HOLD TOY GUN TURN-IN.:  Many Americans have fond childhood memories of receiving a harmless toy gun, or better yet an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two hundred shot model rifle, under the Christmas tree. But it appears the Grinches in the anti-gun community won't even permit a Christmas armistice in their culture war against firearms> In an event modeled on a gun "buyback" on December 21, the children of Hempstead, N.Y. were asked to turn in their toy guns in exchange for a new toy.

(Roger's Opinion:  Time to lock up all Liberals and Democrats who think up these crazy ideas and to make sure they are never allowed to suggest something so crazy as this without first having a Mental Exam.)

CHRISTMAS TIME:  I had the opportunity to speak with several people around the state and I asked them what they planned on getting for Christmas. Everything from more guns, ammo and hunting or fishing equipment for themselves or the children or grandchildren.  They think like I do. Many of you are older sportsmen and like what was said to me at our Director's meeting on Wednesday, we all need to get more youth involved in the outdoors and sportsmen clubs. Something brought up to me is having a program that is geared for all people, but something they can talk about once leaving a meeting. I remember as a youth going to a meeting with my dad and either at the beginning or after the meeting, they had a speaker(s) or a movie about conservation. I remember being in charge of the movie and I use to have a ton of them, but my dad gave a lot of them away at one time. So I am asking you the readers, what would you like to see at a sportsman club meeting? E-mail me at roger@VLoutdoormedia.com and please let me know what you would like to see to improve the Sportsman club meetings and get more youth involved in conservation.

Roger's Outdoor Notes

I had to take a double take of what I was looking at as I was traveling over the Lake Butte des Morts bridge in Oshkosh, WI on I-41. Right near Skipper Buds marine was a city of Ice Fishing Tents with guys walking all around them. There had to be nearly 20 of them. Please use some common sense before going out on any ice this early into the freezing season. Here are some SAFE ICE THICKNESS: 3 inches is good for one person,  4 inches - group in single file, 8 inches - passenger car, 9 to 12 inches -  small pickup truck, 12 to 15 inches - medium truck. These figures come from THE OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC. Of course if you are a big person like me, add a few more inches of inch before walking onto any ice and always make sure you have ice picks, flotation device and let someone know where you are going fishing. If carrying your cell phone, remember to place it into a plastic bag to help keep it dry, and if you do break through the ice, once out you will have a dry phone to call for help. Remember this: Solid, clear, blue/black pond and lake ice are how the above inches were figured out. Slush ice has only half the strength of blue ice. The strength value of river ice is 15% less.  So if you plan on going ice fishing this coming weekend, please be sure to check the ice thickness where ever you decide to chop a hole. Good Luck and please be safe.

NRA-ILA GRASSROOTS NEWS:   GUN CONTROL GROUP: INTEREST IN GUNS, MUSIC SIGNALS INTENTION TO MURDER. Sandy Hook Promise (SHP), an activist group out of Connecticut, has created a heart-tugging "public service announcement" (PSA) that it hopes will capture the public's imagination. I watched the PSA and the spot reveals the organization as simply another anti-gun group that wants to marginalize firearm ownership. The main takeaway from its PSA is that any young person who shows an interest in guns should be treated as a would-be mass killer. The DemocRats and Liberals will continue to hammer away at your gun rights. These sick people now want all schools to ban the wearing or displays of any thing that looks like a firearm or has the word NRA on it. They also want any finger pointing like a gun, or chewing food into the shape of a gun banned. ( Editor's note: I think they need to be taken to the wood shed like some of us older people were. )

CORPORATE LAWYERS JOIN ACTIVISTS TO RESTRICT GUN RIGHTS:  This week the New York Times announced that some of the nation's largest law firms are forming a coalition with gun control advocates to provide tens of millions of dollars of FREE legal services to battle the Second Amendment.

THE YEAR OF THE GUN: CARRY PERMIT, SALES FIGURES EXPLODE IN 2016: The number of persons in the Unites States with concealed carry permits has reached an all-time high of close to 15 million. John R Lott of the Crime Prevention Research Center explains.

NOVEMBER GUN-CHECK NUMBERS BREAK RECORDS WHILE SURPASSING EXPECTATONS: The number of firearm-related queries to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) in November 2016 set new records despite predictions that Donald Trump's defeat of Hillary Clinton would diminish gun buyer demand.

Many of the sportsmen and women out in the community have heard me say we need more youth involved in our outdoor groups. I was shocked by the number of youth attending the Friends of the Branch River Watershed Sunday Dec. 4th at Gill's in Whitelaw. What a wonderful feeling in seeing a group who work so hard with the youth of tomorrow. It was the Winter luncheon and the group put on a great program to get the youth involved in making tree decorations and they also had the kids decorate cookies. The meal was super and the treats after the meal were great. I would like to say thank you to all the members who worked so hard to make this a success. The group just recently joined the Manitowoc County Fish & Game and there is something in the Friends group that the rest of the county groups can learn from. There is so much more to the outdoors today then shooting or hunting. Here is a group that is concerned about the Branch River Watershed, and it covers a long distance in Manitowoc and Brown Counties. That means a lot of man-power, and getting the youth involved is the answer I believe. To join the Friends of the Branch River Watershed group, the cost as a Friend is $20-$99, you choose to spend what you can, a River Protector is $100, Champion is $500 and there is General Donation and a Youth Fund Donation accounts. They get the youth involved in a youth program (12 years old for Summer Camp). You can find them on FACEBOOK or contact Emily Endter at (920) 323-3486 as she is the group's Secretary. Honestly, what a great family Christmas gift. All Dues are tax deductible due to their 501(C) 3 status.  You want to help the environment and be able to see what you have done, join the Friends of the Branch River Watershed now!

NRA-ILA DAILY ALERT FOR 11-30-16. California: Bullet Button Guns must be purchased and received by Dec. 31st. Persons who are wanting to acquire a firearm equipped with a "bullet button"  or that will be considered an "Assault Weapon" under the new law, must be processed and received by December 31st., 2016. With California's 10 day waiting period, the DROS process must be started no later than December 21st.

New Jersey: Urgent! Legislation puts shooting ranges in Crosshairs.  Shooting ranges as we know them may be a thing of the past if anti-gun politicians have their way in the Garden State. A pair of dangerous bills are scheduled in the Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee as early as Monday Dec. 5th.

GUN BACKGROUND CHECKS HIT RECORD HIGH ON BLACK FRIDAY:  It wasn't just electronics and toys that bargain hunters sought on Black Friday, guns also appear to have been on many shopper's wish lists. This year's Black Friday set a single day record for the number of FBI firearms background checks.

ISIS CALLS OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY ATTACKER A "SOLDIER": The Islamic State claimed responsibility on Tuesday for the attack at Ohio State University, calling the student who drove his car into pedestrians and then slashed people with a butcher knife a "soldier" of the terrorist group.

Once again, it's going to be the holiday season real soon and I hope you will please find it in your heart to purchase a sportsman club membership for the family or a friend. You really can not believe how hard it's been to recruit new members to all the clubs in the county. As an example, membership in the Manitowoc Unit of the County Fish & Game only costs you $5.00 a year and $2.50 for a youth membership. You can't even buy a meal for yourself for that price. So go to the new Manitowoc County Fish and Game website and sign up for a club or as many as you like. www.mantyfg.org. that's all you need to do to join a club in this county.

Roger's Outdoor Notes

According to outdoor writer Paul Smith, the Deer Kill, License Sales drop to lowest levels in more than 30 years. Gee, I wonder why?? HOw many of you already know the answer to that question. Hunters registered 196,785 deer for the 2016 season, a 1% drop from 2015. DNR sold 598,867 hunting licenses, 2% fewer tan 2015 and the lowest in 40 years. Only the northern forest region reported an increase in deer kill. I have to hand it to Paul Smith, he does a wonderful job in reporting the facts of the deer season. For the nine day season, the DNR reported two non-fatal shooting incidents in Taylor County and one each in Oconto, Ozaukee and Waukesha counties. Right now the Muzzleloader hunts runs through Dec. 7th and a statewide antlerless deer hunt is scheduled Dec. 8th to the 11th and the Bow season runs through Jan. 8th in most of the state.

ANTI-GUN MEDIA BLOWS LOAD EARLY ON PLAN TO BLAME GUN OWNERS!!!  The incident at the OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY shows how gun ban extremists were so eager to pin another violent attack on your Right to Bear Arms that they got caught blaming Ohio gun laws for what turned out to be a violent attack by a person armed with a car and sharp-edged tool. Anti-gun groups and the liberal media all attacked the Ohio State gun laws for the violent attack, claim it was the state's laws responsible for the attack. The mainstream media should be ashamed, but we know they won't be. As we know what happened during the elections, the Liberal Media will double down and continue to demand the ban on firearms. (My personnel opinion about the Liberal Media is we should deny them their 1st Amendment Rights if they continue to attack the 2nd Amendment Rights of the people.) And like the NRA said after the news broke, "it's sad when politicians rush to a narrative that fits their own agenda, instead of waiting for the facts." Please get a membership to the many sportsmen clubs where ever you are and join the NRA now.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!   I want to thank all the deer hunters who did a wonderful job being safe in the outdoors. According to the DNR, the season turned out to be a safer one that in years past. Only five hunting-related incidents were reported in the state this gun deer season, and there were NO FATALITIES. That compares to eight incidents in 2015 , including three fatalities. But just think of it this way, there was only five incidents with 575,000 licenses sold, and that's a really safe season. Can you see that many guns in a big city like Chicago or Milwaukee and what those numbers would look like. I guess it shows the real world that sportsmen and women are some of the safest people in this state. Thank you once again for using common sense and good safety practices. IN THE SPIRIT OF THE OUTDOORS.

Roger's Outdoor Notes

ATTENTION ALL HUNTERS AND TRAPPERS!! My land has way to many Coyotes on it and sometimes in the early morning hours you think there was over a few thousand of them howling in the woods. I want them out of the woods and land. Only one deer was taken out of the woods this year and even some of the neighbors reported they didn't see any deer either, because we think it's because of the coyotes. I really would like to treat them as wolves, so I think you get my drift. Several people who had permission to hunt on my land reported also seeing way to many of these critters. So contact me if you want to have some fun killing off these pests, I want my deer back on my land. Thanks!

FISHING in the local rivers has been spotty at times, as I have been seeing fishermen in the EAST and WEST TWIN rivers this past week and in the MANITOWOC river also. Manitowoc river produced a few bites, but there's nothing great about it.

Have some of you noticed that the number of geese are getting a little bit smaller around the northern half of the county, but the fields near Manitowoc are sure full.

THE FRIENDS OF THE BRANCH RIVER WATERSHED, are planning their Winter Luncheon for Dec. 4, 2016 at Gill's Restaurant in Whitelaw starting at 12pm when the doors open and lunch will be served at 12:30pm and the cost is FREE. This is FREE to members and their immediate families. If you are not a member yet, well now is a prefect time to sign up for your membership or give one as a gift to someone you would like to ride along to meetings or events with. Memberships as a Friend costs between $20-$99, River Protector is $100, Champion is $500, and you could also make a General Donation $______ or a Youth Fund Donation $_______.  Send your membership and checks into: Friends of the Branch River (FOBR), P O Box 301, Whitelaw, WI 54247. A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE VOTED THIS YEAR FOR YOUR CONSTITUIONAL RIGHTS AND THE FREEDOM SO MANY GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR TO PROTECT. A special Thank You from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to all who elected a president who has pledged to protect our Constitutional Rights and a majority of both houses to Congress that will work to ensure that our individual right to keep and bear arms will be preserved. The work of those who love liberty and our nations hunting and shooting sports traditions is never over. American’s need to remain politically involved to help ensure that the defense of our Second Amendment remains strong and the lawful commerce in firearms is protected at all levels of government. Please do not give up now that the election is over, as it’s never over, the liberals and the other party is always fighting to disarm all Americans and you see it still today with all the protests in the streets started by liberals and the other party. Please remember to pray for all our fighting men and women, police officers and fire fighters across our country. God Bless All of Them!

Read a sign the other day that says the following:  GUNS ARE WELCOME ON THE PREMISES, Please keep all weapons holstered unless need arises. In such case…Judicious Marksmanship is Appreciated.  In other news, Keep your Powder Dry-Democrats Doubled Down on Gun Confiscation. Nancy Pelosi is quoted as saying the following: “If I had my way, sporting guns would be strictly regulated, the rest would be confiscated.”

NRA ILA Alerts:  Some of the stories that came over the line this week. After attempted robbery over the weekend, police stress self-defense from the Midland Police Dept.; Here is the best news I read all morning, Four Predictions about President Trump’s Supreme Court, and the court may also expand the rights of gun owners beyond its rulings in 2008 and 2010. One judge that Trump has put forward, Diane Sykes, has already issued a decision in favor of gun owners. Judge Sykes was from Wisconsin. She is one very good judge on the 7th Circuit Court that covers Wisconsin.  Pennsylvania hunters will be allowed to use semi-automatic firearms and handguns. GOP’s new muscle may remake Minnesota Capitol agenda, as the liberals and Democrats were ready to dump all kinds of new firearm laws against the owners.

In Manitowoc County:  Antlered deer  772,    Antlerless Deer  981    for a total of 1,753 deer.   Thank you to all hunters for being so safe in the field so far this year. Please keep it up.

Manitowoc Unit of the Manitowoc County Fish & Game will be meeting on Thursday Dec. 1st at the Manitowoc Gun Club, near Clover, WI.  This meeting has been changed from the Lincoln Park Cabin #1.  The meeting will start at 7pm and there will be a short business meeting and a lunch and refreshments are available.  Remember to sign up for the 2017 membership at this meeting and remember this, where else can you paid $5.00 for a club membership in this world. Jr. Members are half price, so sign up your children and grandkids also. All us older members are looking for some younger people to help take over the club duties real soon please. Please be a part of a club that was founded in 1907 and is recognized as one of the oldest conservation organization in Wisconsin and the Mid-West. The organization works to protect the rights of sporting men and women and promote conservation and related education. Where else can you spend only $5.00 and be part of conservation history.  See you at the meeting.

I would like to say that during this week while driving around the central part of the state, I met and spoke with many hunters and we all agreed that there are deer out there to be killed, but no one today seems to know how to hunt for them like many of us were raised to hunt them in our youth years. Today to many kids think if the deer doesn’t jump out in front of them while they are playing on their phones or other items some of them take out in the field, there isn’t any deer to hunt. Children today need to know how to hunt, not watch all those TV shows where everyone kills a deer every time they walk out into the field. Kids need some parents who know how to hunt or else only grandparents should be allowed to take the kids out to hunt. Of course, these are my opinions, but it’s also the feelings of many others I have spoken with this week. Please be safe and enjoy the rest of this season.  In the Spirit of the Outdoors, Roger

FORWARD ENDOWMENT will be accepting applications for grants through December 30th. The application asks for details of the requests and related projects. It also asks for background information on the organization and how the project will benefit the general public. I would like to take a moment to thank all the hunters who made this year’s opening weekend a safe one again. I have never in my life been able to see so many Bucks and Does crossing the roadways near my land. Going to the dump at 8am I almost got ran over by two bucks flat out running across the road with a doe in toll. Lucky I got new brakes, the bucks made it across the road but the doe turned and ran back into the woods. Than an hour later I was coming back down the same road and this huge buck with 14 points and two drop tines crossed in front of me, so I turned around to get a better look at him as he crossed a plowed field. I met him at the next town road and he ran right next to my car, and before I could get my camera out of the case, he turned and headed back to the woods he came out of. One other question for you hunters, has anyone seen anyone wearing the Hot Blaze Pink hunting clothes??? With the weather to warm up a little bit more this holiday weekend, it should be putting more families into the field, so please remember the rules of safe gun handling. I wish everyone out there good luck and please remember, the life you save, might be yours, so use good judgment and common sense, no deer is worth a human life. Just think, here we have hundreds of thousands of people with firearms and we do not see the amount of killings like they do in neighborhoods of Milwaukee or Chicago. Makes you wonder why cities run by Democrats seem to always want to ban firearms and look how wonderful it’s here in Wisconsin with all the guys with firearms enjoying a sport that families have done for hundreds of years and feed their families with the meat. Good Luck and remember to BE SAFE.

I see that Howard Stern backs Trump’s plan for Interstate Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Law. This law has been NRA’s number one legislative agenda item for several years. Howard Stern used the considerable reach of his Sirius XM platform on Tuesday to voice his support for a national interstate concealed carry reciprocity law. Hopefully once Trump is sworn into office, both houses of Congress and Trump can get it passed.

I can’t understand how so many people can be allowed to skip out of school to protest Trump’s election and the President claims it’s okay to cause disorder in the streets like he did this past week. There was one particularly disturbing incident, a mother brutally shamed her 7 year old son in an online video for voting for Trump in a mock election at his elementary school, insisting he was no longer welcome at home.  All students who walked out of classes to protest, should be given F’s in all classes not attended during school hours, and college professors should have their wages docked for not conducting classes as scheduled. Everyone has a Right to protest, but not during school hours that disrupt normal class hours of others.

With all that being said, I wish all readers a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday shoppers good luck. Please don’t eat too much, and my diet will be placed on hold for one day, please pass the ham. Ha!

THANK YOU TO ALL THE VOTERS!!!!  It could not have been done without all of your votes to win this past election and protect our Constitutional and Second Amendment Rights. More work needs to be done, so what I am asking of all of you is to please join a sportsmen club in your local area and memberships make a great Christmas gift for the family. Most clubs have individual and family memberships available to everyone. As an example of cost, the Manitowoc Unit of the Fish & Game has a membership for $5.00 a year. NRA-ILA GRASSROOTS NEWS:   11-11-2016 ;  A historic election night for the Second Amendment as we observed how the mainstream media – which had become a little more than a Super PAC for Hillary Clinton  - had already tried to write off Donald Trump and his supporters. The media and Clinton campaign don’t get to write the final chapter to this story, You Did! Thank you for getting and voting for your Constitutional Rights and thank you from all the future gun owners in high schools and grade schools who will be growing up knowing their parents, grandparents and others stood up and fought for their Constitutional Rights. Voters sent a loud and clear message that our gun rights are not for sale. Despite the unprecedented efforts by New York Billionaire Michael Bloomberg and the gun control lobby, the Second Amendment prevailed. The NRA is offering all voters a special Thank You who made the difference in this important election. In light of the elections, we must not forget our Veterans who without them fighting for our rights and freedoms, we would not have a great country like we do now. Their sacrifices, after all, contributed to the blessings of liberty that allows even highly contested elections like the one America just experienced to resolve in a peaceful ad orderly fashion. God Bless All Military, Policemen, Firemen and the millions of others who work so hard to keep America Safe, Strong and Free!!!!! Thank you from all of us.

FISHING NEWS:  Alewife levels are at an all-time low in Lake Michigan and that was the report by the U.S. Geological Survey. Researchers found a record low biomass of alewife in Lake Michigan in 2016. It’ the lowest in the history of the lake. The surveys have been done in the same areas since 1973 and the record keeping has been spot on. The recent decline in alewife abundance the Lake Michigan Committee to seek a stocking reduction. With that being said, state agencies in Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana all agreed to reduce stocking of chinook, since the species is the primary predator of alewife. But in Wisconsin,  the DNR decided to maintain its current level of chinook stocking and reduce lake trout by 58% and brown trout by 50%.  In the waters off of Port Washington , 10 tows produced ZERO alewife. The drags were performed in water as deep as 420 feet and as shallow as 60 feet. But when the research boat returned back to the Port Washington harbor, alewives were visible in the water near the dock. If you want to learn more about our Lake Michigan fisheries, join the NEWGLSF club who meets at the City Limits. Look up the club on the web, and join now.

Just think, the 2016 Deer Hunting season is about to start on Nov. 19th and it will be a 9 day season. State Wildlife officials are enthusiastic about the prospects for the 2016 season.  Something else you should know, as it’s in its fifth season, the first-time buyer license continues to provide an opportunity to explore Wis’s outdoors and experience its hunting traditions at a reduced price.. Something else you should know, thanks to hunters who work hard to learn the rules and regulations and practice safe hunting each year, Wis. Remains one of the safest places in the world to hunt deer. ATVs and UTVs are a good tool for hunters-be sure to check out some helpful tips and stay safe.

BREAKING NEWS: Sportsmen Defeat Montana Trapping Ban. Montana’s Initiative 177 was soundly rejected by voters in the Gem State on Nov. 8th ballot. Had it passed, it would of banned all trapping on all public lands , including city and county parks, municipal golf courses and more. The only states that have enacted a ban on trapping are Arizona, California, Colorado, Massachusetts and Washington. These laws have been pushed by the Anti-Hunting groups in America. Had it not been for many pro-trapping groups, this bill would of passed and the Sportsmen’s Alliance was responsible for the information and help in defending the trapping rights of the sportsmen.

ATTENTION ALL SPORTSMEN AND WOMEN:  COW FARTS CAN NOW BE REGULATED IN CALIFORNIA, as Gov. Jerry Brown kept his assault on climate change Monday, pushing through a law meant to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions from dairy farms and landfills.

COUNTY OUTDOOR NEWS: With deer hunting coming up, here are some issues you need to hear and read. Deer tags must be attached to the deer at all times unless you are right there with it. This means also, once you register your deer, the tag must remain on the deer. If you hang up your deer on a pole, the deer tag must be attached to the animal.  Question came up about quartering your deer to haul it out of the woods, tag it and haul the head part out first, then walk back in and get the second half of your animal. If you should happen to hit a deer with your car, call the DNR Info line at 608-267-7691 and once they give you a number, you are all set to go. Let’s all make this a super safe deer hunting season. Please remember the four rules of safe gun handling.

CDAC MEETING DATE:  The Manitowoc County CDAC committee will be meeting on January 11th at 6pm at the Viking Bow & Gun Club. CDAC is the group of citizens who decide how many deer will be killed in Manitowoc County. Here is a fair warning to all of you who think the DNR are the ones who pick how many deer or types of deer you can kill, it’s the CDAC committee that makes all the decisions. Rumors in the community right now are pointing to an all doe season, no bucks will be allowed to be shot in this county. Look what happened in Waupaca county. Here is where you can have an input into the meeting and into the committee choices.

Remember, BUCK FEVER is this coming Thursday, Nov. 9th and it will be either a good one knowing our Constitutional Rights will be protected, or a sad one knowing we will have to fight for our rights if an Anti-Gun gets into office. Get out and VOTE on Tuesday.

FISHING REPORT:  The fishing on the West and East Twin Rivers has been very good lately. Plenty of fishermen from several states here to catch the fish and have some good times. Been seeing some kids from the middle school fishing down on the East Twin after school and they once in a while they would be carrying some fish home. Fishing on the lake has been rough due to the weather and the same is true for the Bay of Green Bay. High winds and rough water conditions made it very hard for those who wanted to fish on the Bay.

FISHING NOTES: Fishing on both the West and East Twin Rivers has been good for some of the fishermen I spoke with.  West Twin the best luck I found out was using a boat and you should see all the fishermen on the East Twin. Sunday morning at 6am you had to be lucky to find a parking space near the river by the fire station. Got some good photos of the fishermen and I will be putting them on later this week. Had computer problems for the past week and finally got it fixed, thanks to my son who knows more about a computer than I will ever know. So if you want some fish, now is the week to do it as it will be slowing down soon. Good luck to all of you.

News from the NRA-ILA Alerts:  Seems like it’s always an uphill battle when it comes to protecting our constitutional rights that a party wants to destroy. Obama is releasing felons with drug arrests and using a firearm in those crimes, but the everyday citizen wants to protect himself, all of sudden it’s being attacked by a party that thinks it’s better to disarm all citizens. We need to all stop and think where our country is headed, because right now it’s all going down-hill. Grant it no one is prefect, but let’s seriously look at what someone has been doing to improve life for those around them and not worry what someone said 10, 15, 20 or longer years ago. The attacks on our police by a candidate needs to stop just because they shot a black person pointing a gun at them. Police are humans also and they have families also, so why can’t a group of people follow the rules like so many others. (These are mainly the editor’s opinion using information supplied to him.) Just remember one thing, your Constitutional Rights are under attack and you need to VOTE this year and protect your Rights.

DNR NEWS:  In the 2016 Waterfowl bird regulations a question came up during a Q & A period at the Manitowoc Unit of Fish & Game meeting when one of the wardens was asked this question. “Where or how do you sign your Federal Migratory Bird Stamp, since we do not have a license to place it on anymore.”  It was pointed out to me by Warden Gove that on page 5 under the title of Stamp and Permit Requirements, Section 2, 2016 Federal Migratory Bird Stamp it states under the words NOTE: if purchased through the DNR or DNR license agent, the hunter will receive a temporary stamp that is valid for 45 days. The actual stamp will be mailed, within the 45 day period. This stamp needs to be signed in ink, but it does NOT need to be affixed to the hunter’s license.  So there you have it, and it’s in black and white for you to read. Good Luck hunting.

FISHING REPORT for MANITOWOC COUNTY  9-28-16: The Chinook Salmon run is now in full swing. Salmon can be seen at all area dams including Clark Mills, Shoto and Mishicot. Some fish are being caught in the downtown stretches and the harbors so more fish are still moving up. In the harbors spoons, crank baits and spawn are producing a few fish. Further upstream and at the dams spawn has been the best bait. The action is often inconsistent even though fish can be seen surfacing. Fly fishermen are having the most consistent action using egg patterns. A few brown trout have also been caught by lucky anglers. IN the Kewaunee area they also have been having some luck catching Brown Trout, Rainbows, Northern Pike and even a Muskellunge was caught there. Mainly the biggest catch is Chinook Salmon in the area with catches of up to 29 lbs. in size.  Remember, the BESADNY ANADROMOUS FISH FACILITY ( BAFF ) is having its open house this coming Sat. Oct. 1st from 9am to 3pm. Activities include Chinook salmon egg collection, Adopt-a sturgeon, guided nature trail hikes and kids casting practice.

HOME TOWN HERO IN THE SHOOTING INDUSTRY FROM MANITOWOC:  Amy Jagemann, of the Jagemann Sporting Group, a member of the family-owned Jagemann Industries, and maker of the brass casings and magazines, was selected as one of the women to know according to WON (Women Outdoor News). The story was just wonderful to see someone from our area who works hard for the shooting industry. Amy and her husband are raising 4 children and balancing work and life outside work. Amy is particularly interested in reaching the women’s market for the fine line of products produced by her family’s company. According to Amy, Jagemann Sporting Group is trying to reach more women in the marketplace. Amy said they are now working with groups like Women’s Outdoor News, the American Woman Shooter, Wall Armed Woman, Girls Guide to Guns and others to get their message out to the market. The company also believe women are on the Web so they are planning banner ads and other outlets to reach women on the Web. The story was written by Barbara Baird for Women Outdoor News. It was a super great story of a local hometown hero in the shooting industry from Manitowoc. It gives you more reason to purchase your brass from Jagemann Shooting Group at your local dealers or suppliers. Roger Vander Logt

ARE YOU READY TO GIVE UP YOUR FIREARMS????  Don’t believe me, listen for yourself.  Go to  nssfnews@nssf.org,  in the search box type,  (Pull the Trigger-Hillary Clinton’s Plan for Guns)  Sept. 13, 2016 date.  Listen to what Clinton states she will do to the firearm industry. She wants a 25% tax on all Firearms and ammo.  This lady is so far in left field, it’s not even funny anymore. Your 2nd Amendment Rights are at risk if you vote for anyone who is a Democrat. I only know of a handful of Democrats who will stand up to protect your Constitutional Rights today. It’s a shame that it’s coming down to this, but if you are concerned about your future and the safety of your future, and that of your children, grandchildren, then like me, you have to bite the bullet and vote for anyone other than the party who wants to disarm all Americans. I pray that we as a country will make the right choice and elect someone who loves our Constitution and doesn’t want to change everything about it just because they think it’s politically correct. Please remember, these are my feelings, as I’m really worried about the future for my grandkids and my great grandkids. Everyone has a right to vote for whoever they feel in their heart will protect their interests and family. So with that said, please remember to VOTE this year, as it just might come down to that one vote someone should of done. Lets all pray for our future. Thanks.

FISHING REPORTS FOR MANITOWOC COUNTY:  Pier fishing has been hit or miss, but the cool nights have finally started to drop the water temperatures and the bite has started to pick up. Most bites come at first and last light. Both spoons and spawn have been productive. The chinook are finally starting to move up the East and West Twin Rivers with a few fish being caught in the holes and at the dams. In Manitowoc the stretch of river from the mouth to the hospital has produced chinook. Boat anglers have caught some fish by trolling crank baits up and down the river. No salmon have been reported upstream on the Manitowoc River near the dam or Branch river. Look for chinook run to pick up as the water temperatures drop and the days get shorter. In Brown County the fishing pressure has been very LOW pressure, mainly due to the rain and high winds.

Here are some of the items in the news:  Democratic VP Candidate Tim Kaine on Gun Control: “I can’t think of an issue I’d rather be aligned with than this.” In May of 2000, Tim Kaine then a mayor used more than $6,000 of public funds to charter 8 buses to transport city residents to the Anti-Gun and inaccurately named Million Mom March in Washington, D C . In other news, and I’ll just list all the stories I have, Chicago Officials (Finally) Recognize Criminals Cause Crime. You can access that information on the DNR GIS map  http://dnrmaps.wi.gov/opfl  .   This is a very useful information when you purchase or choose antlerless tags for deer hunting. All MFL and Forest Crop lands are considered public lands and you must use a public land tag if you wish to harvest antlerless on those lands. It is illegal to use a Private Land tag on these lands.

NRA-ILA  DAILY ALERT  August 30, 2016 :  Fact Check:  NRA Nevadans for Freedom Fact Checks Gun Control TV Ad. NRA Nevadans for Freedom fact checked the newly-released television ad paid for by gun control group Nevadans for Background Checks, a group largely bankrolled by New York billionaire Michael Bloomberg. You really need to read the whole article to see just how twisted the Anti-gun people really are. They claim that making criminals out of all firearm owners will stop cop killings, and that way it will stop the number of police shootings in the line of duty. Politifact cautions against reading too much into correlation. Economists, Criminologists: No benefit from background checks. So in the next election, Question 1 would criminalize virtually all private firearms transfer in Nevada.  Massachusetts: Rolling rally protests AG Maura Healey’s ‘abuse of authority’ on 2nd Amendment.  Dozens of gun owners drove a 55 mile rolling rally yesterday to oppose Attorney General Maura Healy’s ban on so-call “copycat” assault weapons –and to put the public on notice that if the government can come after the by executive order, and other causes are not immune. Armed Clerk Saves Woman Held at Knife Point, Thwarts Robbery. An armed robber entered a store, and when he held a woman at knife point and demanded money the armed clerk reacted by drawing his firearm and chasing the man from the store.  Finally the best story today, Louisiana: Sales Tax Holiday for Guns, Hunting Supplies. Hunters get a discount on the state sales tax when they shop for firearms and other hunting supplies this weekend. The Louisiana Department of Revenue said in a news release Monday the 2016 Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday runs from Friday through Sunday.

8-30-16 FISHING REPORTS:   In Manitowoc County the water is starting to cool down near shore but fishing is still inconsistent. Spoons seem to be the most productive for anglers on the lake. Chinook and rainbows are the most consistent catch with an occasional coho, laker or brown. Some fish are being caught in shallower water less than 40 feet but mixed results are coming from various depths. Pier anglers are catching a few fish in the mornings but action has been general slow. Look for action to pick up as the fall run approaches and lake waters cool down some more.   In Kewaunee County strong west wind early this past week brought cooler water along the Kewaunee shoreline. Anglers were having success trolling shallow near the mixing waters of Lake Michigan with turbid waters of the Ahnapee and Kewaunee rivers.  Once the lake calmed later in the week, fish became scattered and anglers were reporting a good bite from 60-150 feet of water. Although the bite has been inconsistent, fishing has been fairly good in both Algoma and Kewaunee this past week. The Bay of Green Bay has a mixed bag of fish being caught and the bite is very spotty. Best thing to do is check with the sport shops in the bay area.

NRA-ILA NEWS from 8-27-2016:  Well, guess what firearm owners? Katie Couric’s movie “Under the Gun”, is under fire again.  Seems that Dr. John Lott, well-known author of More Guns, Less Crime and a new book, The War on Guns: Arming yourself against Gun Control Lies. Dr. Lott spent about 6 hours giving an interview for the movie and a very small part of the interview was allowed into the movie until former Mayor Michael Bloomberg and MS Couric had a private screening and after the screening, the Lott footage was deleted. Now the movie is so one-sided against guns, why even go to the movie. When Bloomberg was mayor of New York, don’t you remember how he tried to force everyone to drink smaller size drinks, or not eat as much food. Typical Liberal thinking, do as I say and not as I do. In other news, Massachusetts AG Renews Attack on Gun Owners. Her decision to unilaterally ban common semi-automatic firearms by releasing a list of “Guns that are not assault weapons.” She did once again to confuse the public about a law that has existed for nearly two decades. In Texas, an Injunction Sought against Texas Campus Carry was denied by a Judge, after a lawsuit by two professors filed suit. Both women’s petitions were turned down. Once again it’s the Liberal College teachers complaining about firearms, yet if a shooting would happen, there could be a lot of people hurt without a Good Guy taking out a Bad Guy. For all you third party believers, Libertarian VP Candidate William F. Weld continues to be Anti-Gun, so the Anti-Gun movement is gaining ground in America. Now for all you firearm owners out there, please work locally with your NRA-ILA CAMPAIGN FIELD REPRESENTATIVE (CFR) who is Steven Janke of Wis. Please call Steven with any questions or if you are willing to help get a Pro-Gun person into office this year. Phone 608-697-6936 or use the web at  Steven@nrailafrontlines.com.

Roger's Outdoor Notes

NRA – ILA NEWS FROM 8-28-2016:  Wow, we had a nice meeting with the NRA -ILA Frontline people at the Cabela’s store in Green Bay on Saturday. I was very happy we had a couple from Manitowoc there to hear and see what is being done to save and fight for everyone’s Right to Bear arms. The Frontlines Volunteer Program is made up of us, the local firearm owners or persons who believe in the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution. 40 people signed up to attend and only about 12 of us were there from all over Northeastern Wisconsin. I was a little disappointed to see that so many signed up to attend and never came or even called to say they couldn’t make it. Many of you might think, who cares, but it costs a lot of money to prepare for a meeting like this, materials and the food was out of this world. They allowed us to order from the deli in Cabela’s and the wild game sandwiches hit the spot as we started to make phone calls. I know some people are not feeling good about calling someone else and discuss the elections coming up, but all you do is ask them three simple questions. It takes about 2 minutes to do this. Something we all learned and that is there is only a bumper of 5 Senators in Congress and if we lose them, kiss your rights good bye. Think I’m kidding, join the Frontlines group and you will see what is really happening around the country. If you read my stories on this blog site, you know what I am saying. Also, did you know that Obama has appointed over 300 Liberal Lower Court Judges who we all know do not like us to own firearms, well maybe it’s closer to 99.8% of them. Okay.  So how important is this election today?  The NRA-ILA Grassroots Division has what Is called ELECTION VOLUNTEER COORDINATORS (EVCs) working in America. There are only 23 of them around the country. We have TWO of them working right here in Wisconsin. That’s correct, TWO of them in this state alone, meaning the Senate race here is a target seat. This means that the Democrats have targeted Sen. Johnson to be replaced and Senator Johnson has always been a big supporter of the 2nd Amendment and is a very pro-gun supporter. In Wisconsin for the Eastern Half of Wis. we have Steven Janke as our campaign field representative and in the Western half of the state is Lucas Hutchinson. To contact these frontline people, Steven can be contacted at  Steven@nrailafrontlines.com  and  Lucas can be reached at  lucas@nrailafrontlines.com.  Steven’s phone is 608-697-6936 and Lucas’s phone is 615-879-1390. If you really want to learn more about the gun movement in the state, contact the SECOND AMENDMENT ACTIVIST CENTER at 800-392-VOTE (8683).  The next planned Wisconsin Day of Action is being planned for Sept. 24 and Oct 22rd in Green Bay, WI.  Contact Steven if you are interested in attending and helping protect your 2nd Amendment Rights. You can also see what the NRA is doing today by utilizing all new technology and avenues to help aid in their grassroots activism. You can find the NRA on sites such as FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE and TWITTER.  Also, DO NOT FORGET TO REGISTER TO VOTE! I want all of you to please remember that the NRA-PVF which is NRA’s Political Victory Fund  ( www.NRAPVF.org ) helps educate voters with election-related information and grades & endorsements of state and federal candidates. Your membership money is not used by this division of the NRA. All money used is donated by us, so if you feel like you might have a few dollars to spare, they really can use your help. Call them to find out more information where to donate and send your help. Thank you from all of us and from our grandchildren, as their future in enjoying the outdoors depends on us today. Your support is very important and please remember this, if you want to see your grandchildren or others that age enjoy what we all have been enjoying over our life time, please stand up and help us fight for our gun rights. I spoke with some people who told me they will not vote for either candidate, but remember this please, by not voting for a person who supports your firearm rights, you are in fact helping to take away your gun rights for many, many years, maybe forever. There is a movement around America now calling all firearm owners TERRORISTS, yet you and I know who the real terrorists are and nothing is being done to stop them. Please help elect Pro-Gun candidates who support and will defend your 2nd Amendment Rights this year. Can I count on you to do this?? In the Spirit of the Wild.

DNR Outdoor Report for 8-19-16:  Well, the fall season is starting with some trees changing color and deer dropping or shedding their velvet now. I would also like to remind everyone to please watch the roadways when driving down them, as I’m seeing a lot of deer on the move, and it will be getting worst as the fall continues.  Some ducks are on the move, and as the cooler weather moves in, you will have a chance to see more of them at our marshes in the county.  The fawns still have fading spots on them but are nearing the size of some does.  Bear cubs are healthy, with glossy black fur and fat from berries. Fishing has slowed on Lake Michigan due to the strong southern winds and warm water temperatures. Water temperatures are being reported in the mid-70’s from the surface to down to 100 feet and this has made it extremely difficult to find the fish.  Anglers in Kewaunee and Manitowoc reported a drop in salmon, with a slight increase in smallmouth and rainbow trout catch.  On the Bay of Green Bay, fishing pressure has been very high due to the outstanding walleye fishing in the last month. Anglers were still reporting decent catches of walleyes but are finding it a little harder to catch them this week.

CLINTON WANTS POLITICIANS TO FIGHT AMERICAN GUN OWNERS, aka THE GUN LOBBY:  Clinton is stated in an article saying, “It’s not that we can’t find common ground. It’s that our lawmakers need to find the courage to stand up to the gun lobby.”  There is that word again, the mythical “gun lobby”, some secret cabal of rich gun makers that manipulates pro-gun groups, like the NRA, into doing their dirty work of forcing everyday Americans to spend their hard earned money on lots, and I mean lots of guns. So make no mistake about it, when Hillary Clinton mentions fighting the gun lobby, she is talking about you. Republican, Democrat and Independent, law-abiding, hardworking, tax paying, mom & pop, gun owners. She then goes on praising her vice president pick and lifelong gun banning Democrat, Tim Kaine, with this gem of a person.  Clinton brags how he took on the NRA in his backyard and WON!  Think about this Citizens, you can kiss your gun rights away if Clinton is elected into office. At least Obama lied to us at first, now look where we are at, his phone and & pen. ( Roger’s Opinion:  YOU CAN’T FIX STUPID, BUT YOU CAN VOTE IT OUT!!!!)

BEAR HOUNDS KILLED IN BAYFIELD AND FLORENCE COUNTIES:  Over the weekend, Wildlife Services confirmed that wolves depredated four more bear hounds. A three year old, two 4 year olds and a 2 ½ year old were all killed by wolves. Hunters are being reminded to check all Caution-area maps on the DNR Website. This is getting to be a major problem for our hound owners and we as sportsmen need to start speaking up more to our Federal Legislators to allow the states to manage the populations of the wolves. See what happens when animal rights people find the right liberal judge to screw over all the sportsmen in the country. Wake-up Sportsmen and Gun Owners, you are about to suffer the biggest kick in your backside that will ever happen this election year.

ATTENTION EVERYONE WHO LIKES THE OUTDOORS!!!    HUNT,  SHOOT,  FISH.  SATURDAY SEPT. 24, 2016,  COME CELBRATE THE NATONAL HUNTING AND FISHING DAY 2016.   SHARE IN THE PRIDE!!!!  Go to NHFDay.org for more information. What a perfect time to take the children to a sportsmen club in the county and show them what a wonderful time they can have enjoying the outdoors.  If you don’t start them out at a young age, they will probably end up being thumb players on some tablet.

NRA-ILA GRASSROOTS NEWS:   8-13-16,   THE MEDIA ARE LYING TO HIDE CLINTON’S ANIMOSITY TO THE SECOND AMENDMENT:   This is the state of “journalism” today. Members of the media who desperately want Hillary Clinton to be elected president are stooping to unprecedented lows, abandoning all pretenses of impartiality, forfeiting whatever remnant of credibility they might otherwise have, trying to prevent voters from realizing that Hillary Clinton fundamentally opposes the individual right to keep and bear arms. Here are some of the many other titles you really need to look at. FIRST GOLD OF SUMMER OLYMPICS GOES TO AMERICA,  INSPIRES DERISION FROM MISERABLE GUN-HATING JERKS,  JOHN LOTT, BJS SURVEYS AND ATF DATA UNDERCUT EVERYTOWN’S CLAIMS ABOUT THE EXPANDED BACKGROUND CHECKS,  SYMBOLIC GESTURE ILLUSTRATES IDIOCY OF BACKGROUND CHECK LAW, GUN CONTROLLERS PEDDLE DECLINING OWNERSHIP MYTH AMID MASSIVE GROWTH IN FIREARMS MANUFACTURERS, ( Editor’s Note:  How in the world can someone claim there are less guns being sold today when we have the world’s best salesman on duty selling the guns, Obama. Shows you how much the main stream media will lie to the public to get Clinton elected as dictator over us.) NRA has launched a new anti-Hilary Clinton ad on many markets. It’s very good.

HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP!   YOUR HELP IS NEEDED NOW AND YOUR 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS DEPEND ON YOUR HELP!   You are invited to join NRA-ILA staff and volunteers on Saturday, August 27th, at CABELA’S in Green Bay for an important NRA Wisconsin Day of Action. We will start with an Election Action Meeting at 9:30 am with free breakfast. Following the meeting, volunteers will be provided hats, t-shirts and gear to begin critical voter contact efforts in the Green Bay area. All attendees will have an opportunity to help us elect pro-gun candidates in Wisconsin this cycle. Bring your family and friends to join your fellow Wisconsin patriots for an important NRA Wisconsin Day of Action!!!  WHERE: Cabela’s,  1499 Lombardi Ave., Ashwaubenon, WI 54304  ( NOTE: Store is on the corner of I-41 and Lombardi Av. )  WHEN:  Saturday August 27th at 9:30 am   CONTACT:  Steven Janke at 608-697-6936 or email at :  Steven@NRAILAFrontlines.com .  you can also look it up at: http://www.nrailafrontlines.com/  LET’S ALL GET TOGETHER TO SAVE OUR 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS, and if you cannot make it that day, call Steven anyway to see how he can help you become part of the family saving our 2nd Amendment rights. You can also call me at 920-323-4882 and I’ll try to help you out with any questions. IN THE SPIRIT OF THE OUTDOORS, HELP US PLEASE.

FISHING NEWS:  Because of all the good weather we have been having lately, fishing up North has been very good. In some spots the smallmouth bass are doing well, Musky fishing has slowed down due to the warm water, but some are still being caught. Largemouth bass and Northern Pike are being taken along the shallow weed beds and bluegills are being caught on the bottom near deep weed edges with crappies suspended along wood structures. Fishing along the shorelines on Lake Michigan has been slow due to the warm weather and warm water. Listen to Capt. Bruce’s Sport Fishing Reports on Friday and Saturday on 980 AM dial. Fishing pressure continued to be high off Door County with Little Sturgeon Bay seeing equal mix of walleye and perch fishermen, along with pleasure boaters. Fishing is still slow as water temps remain in the upper 60’s t 70’s. Fish seem to be scattered with boats searching at all depths. The few fish being caught have come from 40+ feet with some anglers finding more fish in deeper water. Pier fishermen have only been able to catch smallmouth, crap and sheephead.  Fishing in the Kewaunee and Algoma areas have not been near what it has been for several weeks. High water temps have the fish scattered all over the depth levels, making it hard to find the fish, so many fishermen have been staying home. Something else for your information, the fish sizes have been getting smaller. Periodically a good size 18+ lb would be brought in, but most of them right now have been between 3 to 12 lbs. Fishing in the Village of Mishicot along the East Twin River has been very slow lately. As soon as the water cools down and the fish decide to come up stream, fishing at that time will be getting better.

Boy, things must be getting rough for the animal rights people, they are even sending me information to join their dumb group. The Humane Society of the United States mailed me a large package of information to join them. People, these groups are always funding the officials who run the group by lining their own back pockets first, as compared to the sportsmen of America. I helped them out by stuffing their return envelope with cut up paper and it cost them money that way when mailed back to them.
