Roger's Outdoor Notes

NEWS: LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PROTECTING WILDLIFE & HABITAT,  Two Rivers High School students will be actively learning about habitat conservation through hands-on experience at Woodland Dunes on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 11am to 1pm.  Students will learn how invasives are introduced to the ecosystem, how to identify some of the locally prevalent invasive and nature plant species, and how their interaction with nature can impact an ecosystem. Targeted invasive plants that will be removed: Buckhorn and Honeysuckle. Junipers, Maples, Spruces, Chokecherry and Chokeberry, native trees and shrubs, will be planted to improve the local landscape. Native plant species provide better nutrition and shelter for local wildlife and are better adapted to conditions. This project was produced under a 2015-2016 grant from the Wis. Environmental Education Board.
