OUTDOOR NEWS:   2017 Wisconsin Wildlife Federation’s Annual Meeting and All WWF Directors, Affiliate Club Representatives and WWF members are invited to attend. Meeting will be held on April 21-22nd, 2017 at the Hotel Mead, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. OUTDOOR NEWS:   Denmark Area Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited is holding their annual banquet on Tuesday Feb. 28, 2017 at Beverly Gardens , 5911 Pine Grove Road, Denmark. Games/Raffles and Social Hour starts at 5:30pm with the Family Style Dinner at 7 PM. Tickets costs are: $45 single and $25 for junior (15 & Under). FISHING NEWS:   43rd Annual Banquet of the Northeastern Wis. Great Lakes Sport Fishermen while be held on Sat. March 11, 2017, at City Limits, 3627 Cty. Rd. CR, Manitowoc, WI . Cocktails at 4:30pm and Dinner at 6:30pm. Available are Prizes, Auctions, Raffles, Guns, Fishing Equipment and much more. Prize drawings will be promptly after dinner. FISHING NEWS:    Get Ready, Get Set, GO!!!!  That is Sturgeon Spearing starts this Saturday Feb. 11th and spears can look forward to seeing some big fish. During a recent survey of conditions, DNR crews measured water clarity ranging from 8 to 13 feet on Lake Winnebago and 4 to 5 feet on lakes Poygan and Winneconne and 2 to 4 feet on Lake Butte des Morts.  Sturgeon spearing opens at 7am Saturday Feb. 11th, and may run for up to 16 days until Feb. 26. However, an earlier closure may be triggered when pre-set harvest caps are reached. All sturgeon must be presented at a registration station by 2pm on the same day they are harvested for registration by DNR personnel.  For complete 2017 rules, look at dnr.wi.gov by searching for “Winnebago System sturgeon.”

OUTDOOR NEWS:   Get ready, it’s almost here!  The 2017 Wis. State Hunting Expo Opens and Runs Feb. 24, 25, & 26th at Shopko Hall in Green Bay. This year the Expo will host over 120 exhibitors from around the world. The partnership with the local chapter of Safari Club International has helped grow what was once a deer hunting show into a truly international hunting expo. I addition to outfitters from the provinces of Canada, we will also host some of the best from Montana, Colorado, Idaho Wyoming, South Dakota and of course from throughout the Midwest. In addition to outfitters, some of Northeastern Wisconsin’s best archery shops, seed companies, and outdoor retailers will also be in attendance. They are all here for one reason.. to help facilitate successful hunts with their products or services. You will be able to browse archery equipment, guns, blinds, clothing, scents, game calls, and all the latest gadgets intended to enhance a hunt. A special attraction this year is an incredible live deer display of Monster Trophy Bucks. Steve Porter’s Trophy Whitetails will be bringing three of their top SCI scoring whitetails to the show. Cabela’s is sponsoring the main stage of speakers and they will have a new this a Cabela’s Youth Zone. The Youth Zone will feature the Golden Arrow Archery Club and their archery Youth Archery Range. The Wis. Hunter Education Instructors Assn. introduces youngsters to the shooting sports with their hunter safety courses and will be set up with their air rifle range in the youth zone. Delta Waterfowl has a great venue where kids can build wood duck houses. It’s a great opportunity for kids to learn conservation is a responsibility that comes with the sport of hunting. Lena Swamp Archery and SCI sponsor the Antler and Trophy competition. Successful hunters can bring their whitetails, elk, and mule deer antlers or bear skulls to the show for measuring as well as African exotics. All entries will be entered into a random drawing for a compound bow package from Lena Swamp Archery. Friday will be Veteran’s Day. Admission for veterans on the opening day of the show is FREE, sponsored by AHT Wisconsin Windows. And finally there are the door prizes and raffles. Guns, Bows, Hunts, even an African Safari from Kemp African Safari will be given away by the end of the 3 day expo.  Show hours are Friday the 24th from 3 to 9 pm,  Saturday  from 9 am to 7 pm, and Sunday from 10am to 4 pm.  Admission still only $8, Kids 12 and under FREE. OUTDOOR NEWS:   The Francis Creek Sportsmens Club 15th Annual SHOW OFF YOUR BUCK contest, will be held on Saturday March 4, 2017 at the clubhouse. The contest starts at Noon and runs until 7 PM. If entering a rack it must be from the 2016 Hunting Season and you must have your Tag and Confirmation Number to Register. The club plans on having raffles and lots of raffle prizes. If you really would like to know more about the event, the club’s monthly meetings are always on the 3rd Monday of each month starting at 7pm. Memberships are available to all. The Clubhouse is located just North of Francis Creek .
