OUTDOOR NEWS:   NRA-ILA DAILY ALERT FOR MAY 16, 2017:  ILLINOIS: House Committee Passes Bill to CLOSE LOCAL GUN DEALERS. It passed by a 7-6 vote, all Democrats voted to shut down gun dealers in the state;  BALTIMORE CITY council votes to legalize stun guns on a 14-1 vote, a move that came in response to a Federal Court ruling;  VIRGINIA:  Democrats spar over Gun-Control Records in Governor’s race;  NEBRASKA:  Preemption bill likely dead for the year;  CALIFORNIA:  Department of Justice Submits Assault Weapon Regulations to Office of Administrative Law;  MEXICO:  New study show how gun control has not slowed violence in Mexico.

WISCONSIN NEWS:  Sponsors and landowners interested in hosting a gun hunt for deer hunters with disabilities are reminded of the fast approaching June 1st deadline to sign up their lands for the October 2017. Sponsors are required to enroll at least 60 acres of land and allow at least 3 disabled hunters access during the October 7-15 hunt.  In 2016, more than 70 landowners in 48 counties enrolled roughly 79,000 acres of hunting land to provide opportunities for over 400 participants to take part in the gun deer hunt for hunters with disabilities. WARNING: Fawn Season is here, and admire from afar, mom is near. Many people think if they see a baby fawn deer that the mother left it. This is so untrue, mom is standing off in the distance looking at what you are doing. Please, just walk away from the little fawn and it’s ok to take a few photos if you like, but please do not touch the cute little fawn. The DNR has this advice for everyone who spots a fawn: “Leave the fawn where it is. Do not touch the fawn as its lack of scent is one of its natural protectors.”

REMINDER OF ACTIVITIES THIS COMING WEEKEND:  The Clarence Plansky Memorial Shoot will be held at the Maribel Sportsman Club starting at 8am till 9pm. Live music from 4pm to 8pm with tons of raffles and prizes for everyone. A Portion of the Proceeds will go to Pink Heals, Manitowoc County. Food and Refreshments available to all. One raffle prize is a Half of Beef with Freezer. You can’t go wrong with that prize.


FRIENDS OF THE BRANCH RIVER WATERSHED will be meeting at the Taus Town Hall at 9:30am for their annual Bridge Crossing Clean Up. What a wonderful time of the year to get outside and see the spring growth in the outdoors. (Rain date Sunday May 21st at 1pm) This is a perfect time to bring out the children to experience the outdoors and help keep the outdoors clean for them and their children someday.
