FORWARD ENDOWMENT FUNDS AVAILABLE TO THE AREA == ROGER'S OUTDOOR NEWS

• The FORWARD Endowment, the Manitowoc charitable trust established to fund projects focused on hunting, fishing, conservation and related education, is still accepting requests for its 2017 funding cycle.
Deadline for applications is Dec. 29. A simple application asks for details of the request, background about the organization and how the project will benefit the public. Both hard projects and related education programs are eligible, although projects must have a public benefit and tie to hunting, fishing and conservation. Call Leede Research at 920-683-5940 or email mantyfg071@gmail.com for an application, or visit www.mantyfg.org.
Selection of grants will be made at a meeting of the Gift Committee in February 2018. During that meeting, the committee will have accurate information about funds available from the trust, managed by Associated Bank. Leede Research then coordinates the gifting process.
FORWARD stands for Friends Of Resources, Wildlife And Recreational Development. It was founded 22 years ago by the Manitowoc Unit of Manitowoc County Fish & Game and is now supported by a combination of funding from area sporting clubs and private donations. Manitowoc County Fish & Game has been a major supporter of the fund and provides a percentage of its Annual Banquet proceeds each year.
The FORWARD Endowment has provided more than $110,000 in grants awarded to projects and groups in Manitowoc County. These represent completed projects in the community.
Anyone interested in donating to fund can do so by making checks payable to The FORWARD Endowment c/o Associated Bank. Only interest incomes from the fund are spent so the fund will continue to grow and be there for future generations. Estate planning gifts are also available. Those making end-of-year charitable donations are invited to consider the fund.
