STURGEON SPEARING UPDATE: The 2017 sturgeon spearing
season on Lake Winnebago and the Upriver Lakes may not be officially close
until Sunday, but Mother Nature made a strong case otherwise on Friday.
Friday marked the second consecutive day that 0 sturgeon were harvested
on the Winnebago system. With all the ice floats piling up on the shores, I
would be safe saying not too many more sturgeon will be speared. The total
amounts of sturgeon taken will be released on either Sunday or Monday this
week.
