Dear Roger P,
Thanks for taking a moment to
update yourself on the activities of the Association. We're busy preparing
for next week's Madison Scramble
golf outing, which comes again on Tuesday, in Cottage Grove.
We've got three great shooting
events for you to consider
joining in, over the next five weeks or so! Each is a great opportunity to
come out, stretch out your rusty old wing-shooting swing a bit, and have some
fun and frivolity with your buddies, in either Waukesha,
Ozaukee
or Outagamie
counties! Make a plan today, and register yourself or your team in advance,
it really helps us get a handle on how the days will go, for planning
purposes, and it's needed, if you qualify for a discount, from previous
participation.
You'll see below a sample of
all the great works being accomplished at our AWA sites, so I wont steal
others' thunder on that, and just encourage you to read on.
I'm looking to fill out a
volunteer spreadsheet for Friday-Saturday-Sunday, August 10-11-12, for the
Waterfowl Weekend at Cabela's in Richfield. The first two days are related to the decoy carving contest,
while the third is really focused on the calling championships. We won't be
able to host a food booth this year, but we will be able to sell Calendars and
other WWA items, as well as all the work around the check-in, display,
protection, and judging of the decoy entries, some dry, and some "in the
tank", plus all the now "routine" work that makes up the calling
contests efforts. If you're interested in this sort of volunteerism, please
let me know when you might be available, and I can share with you, what
sorts of roles we're looking to fill, at those times, thanks!
Update: I've recently sourced
more Canada goose decoys and layout blinds at good discounts, and we're
preparing for a potential DOA decoy order, along with some other BeaverTail
products, if I can confirm the value of run to central MN, to pick up a
trailer-load of goodies.
Notice: If your
chapter team has yet to finalize your spring event, please get with Tom, as
soon as possible, so we can go into the second half of 2018, current &
caught up. It really is important, for our financial reporting accuracy, and
our ability to purchase more inventory for fundraisers, etc. Tom is already
far along in planning for events in August and September, and once we get to
those months, it's all he can do to keep up.
Finally, the Conservation
Calendar is at the printer, since late May, a couple weeks ahead of last year, and should be on-course to be
completed for us to begin distribution after the Independence Day holiday
week. It is amazing that in our 35th year, we'll also celebrate the 10th
anniversary edition of the Calendar. Thanks to everyone who's helped in its
development, and will help, in getting them sold out.
Thanks so much, for all you do
for our Association!
See you on the water,
Don
