Well, the big weekend and week is finally here for the Lakeshore. That means the Northeastern Wis. Great Lakes Sport Fisherman Derby will be held down at the lake front. To find out how the fishing is going, tune into WCUB Radio at 980 AM dial and listen to Capt. Bruce when he does the Sport Fishing Reports on the weekends and during the Salmon Derby.
Derby will start on July 6th at 12:01am and runs till the noon hour on July 8th. Then all the prizes will be given out. July 7th is the Kids Fishing Derby and it's free for the children from 8 am to 10 am. The Super Derby is from 5 am to Noon on July 7th. Prizes will be awarded to the top five fish in each category. Live entertainment will be on July 4th and then on July 6 to 8th. So, come on down and have a fun time with the other lovers of the outdoors and fishing.
Also while in Manitowoc, please stop on out at the Friends of the Branch River Watershed's Brat Fry at Rob's Market on Menasha Ave., on Saturday July 7th from 10 am to 3 pm. All proceeds go to the Youth programs and Conservation/Natural Science scholarships. Please come on out and enjoy a nice meal with the family and help support a group that works with our youth today.
NOTE: The Mishicot Sportsman Club and Viking Bow & Gun Club who both hold their monthly meetings on the first Wednesday are both moving their meetings to the second Wednesday July 11th due to the fact that July 4th falls on the first Wednesday. Hope you all mark your calendars as to not to forget.
Also remember that the Manitowoc Unit of the Manitowoc County Fish & Game will not be having a meeting during the month of July. This is a past practice that the club takes the Month of July off to allow it's members to enjoy the 4th of July week. Mark your calendars for August 2nd and the meeting will start at 7pm in Cabin #1 at the Lincoln Park Zoo property. Everyone is welcome to attend, it's open to the public and new members are always welcome for a cost of $5.00 per year.
In the Spirit of the Outdoors, have a wonderful July 4th week and see you at the derbies.
