Well, here we are on the FREE FISHING WEEKEND Saturday and Sunday June 2-3. It's a cool morning and the temps are in the 60's right now. I would like to CONGRATULATE Anne Busse on her first kill of a turkey on May 13th. Than her husband, Terry shoots one right after her kill. What a wonderful way to spend a morning together. I truly wish more husband and wife hunting and fishing teams have as much fun in the outdoors as this couple. They both work so hard on their jobs and they bring that hard work in the field of conservation also. Anne's project has been Silver Lake and they both have spent more time and money working on that lake then any other couple I know of. They both belong to the Manitowoc Unit of Fish & Game Prot. Assn. By the way, if any of you fishermen are looking for a custom built rod, contact Terry as he is a super custom rod builder and the work he does is out of this world. I only wish I had that skill to build something like he does, but if you need a rod built to your specs, contact Terry at Terry's Auto in Whitelaw, WI.
Get ready for next weekend June 10th as the Cleveland Fish & Game will be holding their 3-D Bow shoot, poultry shoot and brat fry. Practice and Registration for the bow shoot is from 8 to 9 and the shooting is from 9 to 11. The trap shooting will then run from 11 to 5pm. The club will have raffles and cash shoots. The club is located 1 mile West of Cleveland on highway XX and then go a block South on Union Road. Everyone is welcome to stop on out and enjoy some good times and having fun.
Do not forget, the Manitowoc County Fish & Game is sponsoring once again FOUR $1,000 scholarships to students who are in college going into their 3rd and 4th year. For more information, go to: http://www.mantyfg.org and click onto the Scholarship link or contact Dan Dufek at 920-860-4933. Deadline to return completed applications is June 15th.
I know I have this information listed in this column earlier last month, but here it is again. Muzzleloader events for the Maribel Sportsman Club and Viking Bow & Gun club are as follows: Maribel will be on the first Monday of each month: June 4th, July 2nd, Aug. 20th, Sept. 17th and Oct. 15th. Viking will be on the third Monday of each month: June 18th, July 16th, Aug. 20th, Sept. 17th and Oct. 15th. ALL SHOOTS START AT 5 PM.
Do not forget, the Manitowoc Unit of Fish & Game will meet this coming Thursday June 7th at 7 pm at the Lincoln Park Cabin #1. Guest speaker this month will feature an Outfitter from Alaska and he will be sharing his experience in the Alaskan wilderness. The meeting is open to everyone, youth are always welcome to learn more about the outdoors and the club has been having more and more women coming to learn about the outdoors. This is a great time to come and congratulate club member Anne Busse on her first turkey kill. Anne is a great role model for all women who are thinking of doing the outdoor stuff with their husbands or boyfriends.
Finally, the Northeast Wisconsin Youth Shooting Program, INC. will hold its first shoot of the summer June 7th at the Maribel Sportsman Club. Shooting beginnings at 4 pm and goes until each youngster age 18 and younger has a chance to shoot. Participants will get a FREE round of trap and a FREE box of shells to shoot a round. A parent must accompany the youngster to sign the required paperwork to allow their child to shoot.
Remember, we have a special election coming up on June 12th for the First Senate District and I hope you will please go vote for who you think will protect your firearm rights totally. One person has fought for our rights in Madison since he was down there. The other person is being backed by groups who support Former Mayor Micheal Bloomberg of New York and the Anti-gun groups in America. Who do you think will fight for your 2nd Amendment Rights more???? This person is also receiving money from Mr. Eric Holder of the Obama's adm., remember FAST & FURIOUS gun running, trying to blame America gun owners of sending guns into Mexico and it was the Obama people doing the gun running. PLEASE, JUST GET OUT AND VOTE.
