On June 3rd the Outdoors Writers Association of America awarded nearly $14,000 to the winners of the 208 OWAA Excellence in Craft Contests. There were many winners from all across the country, but I will only mention one individual we all know from Wisconsin. That's Dan Small of PBS and Radio, and here are the category and how he placed.
TV / VIDEO CONTEST: Dan placed in Third Place with "Aldo Leopold Legacy Center Tour"
RADIO/PODCAST CONTEST: Dan placed in Second Place with "Saving the Monarchs"
FAMILY PARTICIPATION/YOUTH OUTDOOR EDUCATION CATEGORY:
Dan placed in Third Place with "Ultimate Animal Adventures with Keith Keffer"
FISHING CATEGORY: Dan placed in Second Place with "Cat & Mouse Muskies with Jeff Andersen" and Dan placed in Third Place with "Pike Spearing with Joe Shead"
GEAR/TECHNICAL CATEGORY: Dan placed in First Place with "Deer Nutrition with John O'Brion", Dan placed in Third Place with "Floe Trailers".
HUMOR CATEGORY: Dan placed in First Place with "If I were a Beaver"
HUNTING OR SHOOTING SPORTS CATEGORY: Dan placed in First Place with "Eva Shockey: The Hunting Lifestyle"
OUTDOOR FUN AND ADVENTURE CATEGORY: Dan placed in Third lace with "Surviving Irma".
Being an outdoor writer does have some rewards at time, but you must work your butt off in order to get ahead today. Congratulations Dan for all your hard work over all these years. We all enjoy your stories. Roger
